A man from Kentucky suggests a bit of history so rather than just say we bought, had , shared thought I would try to make interesting and take you there LOL
I knew hubby before I married him well it helps doesn't it LOL but he hung at the same local pup it was more local for him than me as he only lived about a field away but we hung but not quite in the same circle of friends, I knew of him and his chums because they were kinda loud and took over the place at that time I wasn't interested in a fella coming on board so generally I would just take the micky. Not sure how but I got invited to an off road meeting and said "yeah why not" this is what they did they raced Land Rovers off road it meant absolutely nothing to me and imagined the wellie and wax coat brigade and some Land Rovers chugging up some hills LOL How wrong could I be and as I was into fast Motor Cycles at the time this was a real surprise and a huge Buzz and what would you know but Simon future Hubby was the hero of the club and the British National Champion at that time so as a girl does I thought I should pay attention and I wanted a ride in his Off Roader anyway... So a date was made and he arrived very punctually and as usual I wasn't ready, his car looked pretty normal a hatch back and wait for it how wrong could I be sounded a bit meaty when he fired up the engine and after that it was a white knuckle ride in the country to a pup that served Old Peculiar (Cider) now for those who have not tried this cloudy pungent Cider OMG if you can drink two glasses your doing well so the memory is a bit shady but liking the car I learned it was a Lotus Sunbeam Lotus tweaked a bit by him, he took me home that night as everything was spinning and we arranged another date and this time I wanted to know what we talked about and this is where I learned about his dogs, never heard of the breed at all and remember thinking they sound a bit like a Boxer LOL
Later that evening and something that sticks in my brain he got his key to the farm house out and put it on the table and you know the size of a church door key big and about 6 inches long and they look real old this was that type of key so I joked about it and he then gave me the history of the farm built in the 1800 by the Strutt family during a shortage of cotton as the area is famous for its cotton Mills it had 17 chimney stacks and lots of windows cant remember how many it has a Cheese room a Tool room a room where they hung meat and its own clay oven I was really intrigued it was presently rented to a family for 99 years along with the surrounding acres about 250 I think and Simon rented one half of it and I was about to meet his dogs as well how interesting was this bloke.....And will leave it there and continue the next time
I think the idea is going to be how Alport came about and what we learned along the way, why we hold the views that we do and our understanding of the breed and finally how it is today
We do count
