Well we managed to get there closely followed by Bea's people, its a great venue but the parking is not good and on a cold November day not much fun, realized when we got in the bitch classes had been staggered by 15 mins behind the dog classes and this good but not when you have a bitch to show in puppy and a dog to show in junior, so I went in with Bea for a sweat out contest and got hold of Stu (Ch Alport Fire Cracker's) man to show Bertie and WOW WOW WOW I'm in love with Bertie, just bang on for 12 months and 3 days old the most amazing shape and lovely expression but he wasn't spotted amongst all those big boy's in the class and not being used to showing was a bit fidgety and it was a huge class so many a good dog lost in the cramped space IMO, but bets on this boy wont be ignored next year and I don't part with my money easily.....Now the fidgety-itus had been passed onto Bea as well and she wasn't easy peezy and was moaning quietly whilst looking for her Mum and Dad but we got 3rd which amazed me and the nice lady judge said her bit of advice which I had to agree with and completely as my fault as she had been so good at the last show I had automatically assumed she would be like wise but a much bigger class so easier to show objection.... we hung for a bit longer and Bea had her photo taken along with Bertie so when I see them I will put them on here, caught a few nice folk to talk to and then came away......Now this is my blog so I can say what I like can't I there were some nice winners and the top honours all worthy......Accept and I will ask the question is it now going to be the norm now for judges to put up dogs out of there own dogs and in this case both parents bred by the judge and receiving top honours, is it a case of I am the judge so I can do what I like and the cop out being well I'm bound to like the animal its out of my breeding and therefore why did I and our Classic Finds breeder discuss that it was showing respect to not put him the position by my coming under him when he judges a champ show next year.....But the Man is a gentleman through and through and does by the book and I believe he wont be swayed by influence of who is on the end of the lead or doing favours for his next judging appointment and I truly wish I could go under him.....
IMPORTANT NEWS
I haven't grasped all of this yet but will be studying it The Kennel club are looking with the idea of making it compulsory for all breeders to join what it presently known as the Accredited Breeders Scheme so some power/control struggle is taking place...Now and I am for and against on this, firstly there will be a list and names or should I say affixes that will be at the top of the list based on lots of things but one being possibly how many champions they have bred so we could say thats ok but on the other hand if a breeder has kennels ( And I am not necessarily thinking of Staffords) and has a lot of dogs breeding then surely that person will breed more champions than I can and here the best bit but one of the aims behind the scheme was to try and stamp out puppy farming but as I see it if this idea goes forward then surely that means if you have an affix it's ok so already flawed... One of the other things is the allowing you to become and remain an accredited breeder which consists of a home check and boxes to tick plus the idea of maybe 4 mentors of vast knowledge on breeding to cover the whole Staffordshire Bull Terrier community which to me even though it says they don't have to be active in the breed this is way to controversial and open to interpretation so it could mean a judge who no longer breeds but he/she can have the power to say yay or nay, my God imagine the power and all those brown faces....So totally flawed up to now as I see it.....I plan to look into it and make sure I have facts to offer but the wind of change is coming but lets please not be dictated to or told how we/you should be breeding, when in fact we/you should be telling them that they have nothing new to offer as we have been doing it correctly for the past in our case 18 years and until we see some benefit of this scheme why should we pay the KC £10.00 a year for a load of twaddle
We do count
